AMA BRASIL starts licensing of seaweed farms and COOPERAQUA already approves the implantation

Cooperaqua manages to advance in the licensing of the marine farm project and its cultivation area already has approval from the Federal Government for its implementation and simultaneously the licensing protocols of AMA BRASIL.



After eighteen months of processing the documents, the release and approval of the licensing of the cultivation area of ​​the seaweed farm of Cooperaqua - Aquaculture Cooperative of the North Coast of São Paulo, with the project's location close to the coast, is in its final phase. On the Rio-Santos highway at Km 118, where the works to contain the slope of the highway took place, is stretch known for the stop-and-go work. The area is located between Praia das Cigarras to the north and Pier da Figueira to the south, at a distance of approximately 300 meters from the land. Being under the responsibility of the Aquaculture Technician, Renato do Prado Santos, President of Cooperaqua and Aquaculture Director of AMA BRASIL, with the advancement of the project approval process, the cooperative members are already beginning to mobilize concerning the implementation of the production structure which will have 14,000m² of water surface occupied by the unprecedented system, mixing giant bamboo rafts with long-lines of polyamide cables, floating with the support of drums and drums, properly signposted and illuminated for the protection of navigation and vessels as determined, approved and licensed by the Brazilian Navy.

While Cooperaqua is reaching its approval and implementation stage, its members are pursuing to expedite the start of production of the first large-scale structure in the region. AMA BRASIL has applied the protocol of 5 processes, with Ilhabela having two areas, and São Sebastião, Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba, an area in each municipality. The Federal Government is to evaluate and approve the five processes by the end of 2021. Streamlining of processes implemented will benefit users of the system.
