AMA BRASIL subscribes to the formation of 4 new Indigenous Institutions Amazonas and registers them

The principal initiative for the strengthening of indigenous culture came into being about the middle of 2017. The registration, in association with AMA BRASIL at the public official's office, commercial board and the government revenue office, is catalogued after four years of its foundation.

The indigenous institution ICABBRASIL (Chiefs of Base of Brazil), founded by indigenous groups of chiefs, provides legal validity, denoting claims and joint actions of indigenous communities. Uniting forces of each cacique gathered in this Institute creates a single voice before the other existing organizations, including FUNAI - National Indian Foundation, the official indigenous body of the Brazilian State, created by Law 5,371, on the 5th of December 1967.

"The foundation formed by native leaders of the communities immensely strengthens the collective demands officially for all in the Brazilian territory. Subsequently, the participation of their members in any international initiatives is guaranteed." Hermann Palmeira, president of AMA BRASIL, creator, founder and subscriber of the four indigenous entities created.

On the same date, more indigenous entities were established, totaling three. These institutions increased the protagonism of their representatives in the face of demands and needs in indigenous communities, thus creating two more cooperatives, called COOPÍNDIO and COOPERÍNDIO, and one association called AIAREDD+ BRASIL.

COOPÍNDIO - COOPERATIVE OF AMBIENTALIST INDIANS OF THE LEGAL AMAZON

Coopíndio in its bylaws determines in its Article 4:

"The Cooperative's Institutional objective is to guarantee the officialization of environmental activities and the preservation and improvement of the economic and social quality of life of its Associates inside and outside its territories and indigenous reserves."

COOPERÍNDIO - COOPERATIVE OF MINING INDIANS OF THE LEGAL AMAZON

Cooperíndio in its bylaws determines in its Article 4:

"The Cooperative's Institutional objective is to guarantee the officialization of mining activities and the preservation and improvement of the economic and social quality of life of its Associates inside and outside its territories and indigenous reserves."

AIAREDD+ BRASIL - ASSOCIATION OF THE AMBIENTALIST INDIANS FOR THE REDUCTION OF EMISSIONS FROM DEFORESTATION AND FOREST DEGRADATION IN BRAZIL

AIAREDD+ BRASIL in its bylaws determines important concepts, purposes and objectives for the development of its activities and actions, having in two of its paragraphs of Article 1 the following wording:

"Third Paragraph - AIAREDD+ BRASIL had its creation determined after the creation through the Federal Government of Brazil of CONAREDD+ (National Commission for REDD+) by "Decree 8.576, of November 26, 2015 and its Resolutions," with the main objective of complying with the determinations imposed by this Commission but above all principles, to defend the individual and collective interests of the Indians and their indigenous reserves, both as a unit part of a larger or smaller group interested in protecting their natural, forest and environmental heritage, placing above all other premises, the protection of the growth of Indians and their indigenous reserves with their own financial resources, through a socioeconomic policy supported by their own technical and management capacities, overcoming barriers and impositions contrary to their rights, duties and benefits, contesting possible impeditive limitations of law imposed by the laws of the Federal Government and/or the Governments States of their jurisdictions, respecting the international principles of global rules for the environment in maximum compliance with the rules for mandatory mitigation of impacts on Climate Change."

"Paragraph Four – AIAREDD+ BRASIL recognizes the necessary efforts of the Indians and their indigenous reserves for the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, Conservation of Forest Carbon Stocks, Sustainable Management of Forests and Increase of Stocks of Forest Carbon – REDD+ and will support, assist, coordinate and represent the initiatives of the Indians and their indigenous reserves for the follow-up and monitoring of the implementation of the Municipal Strategies for REDD+ (EMREDD+) and the elaboration of the requirements for access to payments for results of REDD+ policies and actions in each of the indigenous reserves, for environmental and forestry purposes in Brazil, recognized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.”

We are a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) carrying out activities in areas where there is no intervention from public and/or private authorities or where these measures are insufficient. Activities are also carried out to complement initiatives that need more attention to urban, rural and environmental areas already affected by social, environmental and cultural degradation. Interaction with different classes and groups helps to integrate the population and create balanced solutions.

AMA BRASIL contributes to the growth of a more developed society, with practical actions, especially with the partnership of all who idealize globalizing social-ecological and cultural equality.
